The Perak Turf Club Apprentice Training Academy was set up in early 2013 to enable our own learner apprentices to graduate to become "B" grade apprentices without having to go abroad for their training. This programme is coordinated by the Equine Council of Malaysia with the endorsement of the Malayan Racing Association, the governing body of horseracing in Malaysia and Singapore.

 

 

The programme is over a two year period but the academy does apply Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to help propel some of the learner apprentices who have been riding trackwork and trials for some time. The programme covers many facets of horseriding including subjects that are incidental to riding but involves everyday life such as basic accounting, public speaking, proper diet, usage of prohibited substances and communication skills.

 

Applicants must be between 16 to 26 years old, be physically and mentally fit and riding weight must not exceed 50 kgs. Interested parties can email us for further details.
