Talented sprinters GRAND CROSS and VIOLET have been two of the most progressive gallopers over the past twelve months in the country and are set to clash in the 1200m Enrich Stakes A contest at Ipoh on Sunday.

GRAND CROSS has been in career best form since joining the Kevin Coetzee stables early last year posting 6 wins from 15 Malaysian starts and his most recent performance when leading all the way to score by 3 lengths with 60.5kg second up suggests he will prove hard to beat again. The 8yo has won 3 times at the track/distance and has led in over 90% of his local starts so will be utilizing his early speed from the outside barrier.

VIOLET suffered defeat for the first time in four outings for the Shane Ellis yard after posting a hat trick of victories in KL previously. The galloper formerly known as Platinum Life started his racing career in Ipoh with now retired trainer, KL Chong recording a handy record of 4 wins and 4 placings from 9 starts on the Ipoh circuit. VIOLET was far from disgraced finishing 3rd from gate 13 in Penang three weeks ago over 1400m and a forward showing is expected on his former home turf.

LAUS DEO may be a fraction below the top rated horses locally but has been a most consistent performer throughout his career. Now at nine years of age, the stable mate of Grand Cross is a fast and reliable beginner who normally settles on the speed and is one for the trifectas.

CROWN STAR has posted successive placings against similar opposition since the break and is another reliable beginner who receives a big weight advantage (53kg) compared to his more fancied rivals.

PENTAGON showed he is also capable at this level since winning a Class 4 contest when resuming in July. The 8yo ran 5th in the Enrich Stakes race at the last meeting beaten 1.7 lengths and looks a genuine place chance with the minimum weight.
