WATCH FOR WET TRACKERS AT PRTC SUNDAY

Following a week of unrelenting rainfall every day this week in Ipoh, a wet track appears highly likely for the eleven race card at PRTC on Sunday. With a further half inch of rain predicted for Saturday plus afternoon showers forecast for Sunday, the wet track form should be scrutinized carefully when analyzing the form guides.

TURF GUIDE

BEST BET: RACE 8 No 4 JJ STAR - From the inform Simon Dunderdale stable, punters have rallied behind this 5yo numerous times in the past but has only posted 1 win from 25 starts. His only career victory was over the 1800m earlier this year but his last start 2nd over 1700m in KL may suggest he is ready to win.

 SOON YOU THINK

VALUE BET: RACE 6 No 8 SOON YOU THINK – Was well supported in the market but unsuited by a slow tempo in the small field over 1800m last Sunday behind stable mate HALO INSPIRE, which is engaged in the same race. The 5yo meets HALO INSPIRE 3kg better at the weights this time around and looks a chance of posting his third win for the year.

IRACE

BEST BET: RACE 4 No 1 PURPLE RAIN – This enigmatic 4yo would have derived plenty of benefit from his first up performance down the 1000m straight course last week. The KF Wong trained performer went down by a half length but ran to the line strongly and the rise to 1200m from barrier 2 stands him in good stead for a return to the winners circle.

 GOLD POWER

VALUE BET: RACE 10 No 8 GOLD POWER – Recent exposed form looks moderate on paper but the 7yo has dropped back to a workable rating of 37 pts, his lowest rating since posting successive wins in June and July last year. The 7yo is proven in wet going with 2 wins from 3 starts and jockey J De Souza has won on the gelding previously.

WINNER 21

 SORBETA

BEST BET: RACE 7 No 7 SORBETA – Backed into favourite two weeks back in KL and received all the favours in the run scoring by 2.3 lengths over the mile. The 5yo gave L De Souza an armchair ride from the pole on that occasion and although Sunday’s contest is a fraction stronger, the gelding draws well in barrier 2 and carries the same weight.

 NOVA DASHING

VALUE BET: RACE 11 No 1 NOVA DASHING – With 2 wins from 3 tries over the 1400m at the track/distance, the 6yo saves his best form for this circuit and his last visit was a successful one back in June. The saddle slipped on the gelding in KL a fortnight ago when finishing 6th, beaten 5 lengths. He looks to be a genuine each way chance providing he can handle the going.
