Perak Turf Club - BEST BETS AND EARLY SCRATCHINGS FOR SUNDAY

BEST BETS AND EARLY SCRATCHINGS FOR SUNDAY

Racing returns to Perak Turf Club for the first time since the Derby meeting conducted six weeks ago with an 11 race card commencing at 12.45pm. Overseas racing will be simulcast from Hong Kong and Korea.

The high grade event is Race 7, the Enrich Stakes A down the 1100m straight course. A couple of handy local performers in BLACK AND WHITE and HALO BRIGHT make their race track returns while two former Singapore open class performers, GRAND SHOW and JUSTICE DAY, will be making their Malaysian debuts.

 HALO BRIGHT

HALO BRIGHT has a good record first up and looks primed following a recent trial win here two weeks ago. The 5yo suffered severe interference at his most recent outing in November but raced extremely well fresh during his last preparation posting three wins in a row at the three Malaysia turf clubs.

 BLACK AND WHITE

BLACK AND WHITE finished a head behind HALO BRIGHT in that recent trial and looked well prepared for a first up tilt. The 8yo has only missed the place once in 5 tries at the 1100m journey and has placed twice down the straight course previously.

Former Singapore galloper, GRAND CROSS has not raced since August last year.  The ex China Horse Club performer is proven at this level, posting his last victory in the Class 2 Canada Cup in Kranji just over twelve months ago.

JUSTICE DAY is first up since May of last year and wasn’t really extended in a KL trial last Tuesday week. The 8yo picked up a Class 3 contest in Kranji this time a year ago and has previously won when resuming from a spell.

 SILVER WIND

SILVER WIND draws the inside gate and has the early pace to be prominent throughout. The 6yo possesses a good record at the journey (3 wins) and wasn’t disgraced in a strong Benchmark 89 event won by the inform Kerauno at Penang a month back.

PISCES STAR could be the value runner with a big weight advantage for apprentice L De Souza. The 13- time winner has scored twice down the Ipoh straight course and was a Class 4 winner in Penang during their Gold Cup Meeting in December.

The speed map suggests that PROBABLY will be leading for a long way and could be hard to catch over the slightly shorter trip. BACH’S AIR could win without surprising after finishing close up in recent starts and looks a genuine trifecta hope.

EARLY SCRATCHINGS: R1 (11) SUPERB SEVEN: R3 (11) LADY LIBERTY:  R9 (10) TRIPLE COIN

BEST BETS:

IRACE MEDIA:

DETERMINE TO WIN (R1 NO2) – Maps well for this lowly Class 5 contest with a lack of early pace in the race, should be leading and prove hard to run down.

TURF GUIDE:

SING DARCI (R3 NO2) – Has ability but does tend to mix his form so can be hard to catch for punters. Won over this journey in October and his last start placing was full of merit. HS Gill retains the ride.

WINNER 21:

SOON YOU THINK (R4 NO7) – Currently in career best form posting a hat trick of wins, all at 1800m. Back to the mile but has the ability to defy the rise to Class 4 company and should be at good odds against some seasoned campaigners.
