Perak Turf Club - PREVIEW FOR PRTC DAY ONE CORONATION CUP MEETING 2018

PREVIEW FOR PRTC DAY ONE CORONATION CUP MEETING 2018

Eight events will be decided at Perak Turf Club’s on course races this Sunday, Day One of the Coronation Cup Meeting 2018. Ipoh races will coincide with the Group One Singapore Gold Cup Meeting with the local programme commencing at 1.40pm while the first of ten races in Kranji is due at 12.20pm.

The 1400m Enrich Stakes A has attracted the smallest field of the day but contains numerous chances with various runners coming off recent victories. MULTIBLUE SHARK will be one of the favourites judging by his recent efforts which included successive wins in Class 4 grade. The 5yo displayed a quick turn of foot with a fast finishing 2nd (13th@400m) in KL last start indicating he will be highly competitive at this level. The horse has also won 2 from 3 at the Ipoh 1400m trip.

If a wet track prevails on Sunday then GOLDEN CASINO comes into serious calculations. A proven performer in heavy going, the 7yo has been freshened up since missing the start in a 1400m Class 3 contest at Penang in September finishing 5th behind HALO BRIGHT, beaten 1.7 lengths.

HALO BRIGHT burst onto the local scene with 3 successive wins, with a different jockey each time at each of the Malaysian turf clubs. The 5yo grey failed in Soft going at Ipoh last start on October 14 but had to contend with the wide barrier on that occasion so may pay to forgive.

FLYING DARCI has recorded several placings in wet going and is another horse in good form at the moment. The 8yo ran 4th to the smart Relau Star in Penang last month but finished a close 2nd to HALO BRIGHT prior to that during the Sprint Trophy Meeting. The horse has won 7 times at the distance and a win would not surprise.

NAZIR has started four times in the country, twice at G1 level and will find this assignment much easier. If the 7yo grey can recapture the form he displayed prior to leaving Singapore, he has a genuine chance of scoring with in form jockey, R Rueven in the saddle.

MEDIA BEST BETS FOR THE MEETING:

TURF GUIDE

SAVAGE STORM (R8 NO1) – Trainer Shane Ellis prepared his first Malaysian winner in KL last Sunday and this 8yo gelding came close down the straight course on October 13 finishing runner up to the inform ACE KING. Had solid form in Singapore and should derive plenty of benefit from his first up run.

PUNTERS WAY

MULTIBLUE SHARK (R4 NO3) – Has been ultra consistent this year climbing through the grades and his last performance caught the eye. With 2 from 3 at the track/distance and the 4kg apprentice claim, the 5yo looks hard to beat in the small field.
