BEST BETS

SATURDAY 18 AUGUST

MARK LYDEAMORE:

R5 No4 MILITARY STAR – Should be placed on speed in a race devoid of early pace and jockey SS Vanan has a good record on the gelding. Led all the way over 1200m here in June and can repeat the dose.

TURF GUIDE:

R2 No7 PROUD PINOY – Has the wide draw to overcome but has been racing in good form, including a 1200m victory at KL in April. Needs luck but is a proven performer at Class 4 level.

EAGLE EYE:

R7 No4 COLONEL LINCOLN – Despite not winning a race since March 2016, the 8yo has struck a moderate field and flew home when placed 2nd over 1400m in Penang last start.

SUNDAY 19 AUGUST

MARK LYDEAMORE:

R11 No5 FLYING WINNER – Placed at his past 5 starts, including a 1600m victory here on July 1. Has been a model of consistency in recent months and with 4 wins at the 1400m journey, should prove hard to beat.

TURF GUIDE:

R10 No4 BATTLE HORSE – Nearly reached Class 2 level earlier in his career and now as an 8yo, gets his chance to return to winning form in a Class 4 contest. Is yet to win at 1400m but was a close 2nd over this journey in KL a fortnight ago.

EAGLE EYE:

R2 No3 RUN CHEETAH RUN – Has won 2 from 6 in Malaysia and won first up in Penang over 1400m on June 10. The 8yo ran 3rd in torrential conditions last start and visits Ipoh for the first time on Sunday.

R4 No2 L’APPRENTI SORCIER – Placed 5 from 5 in the country and produced an eye catching effort when produced first up from a bleeding attack in Penang last month. Chased home handy stable mate VERBAL LINK on that occasion and deserves a win.
