Perak Turf Club will be hosting the first of 3 on course meetings this month with a nine race card on Saturday commencing at 1.40pm. Approximately 15mm of rain fell late Wednesday afternoon with only light showers on Thursday. Providing there is no further rain the track should be rated as Good.

The 1200m Class 4 (Race 4) should ensue an expected clash between promising types YENDOR and CROWN STAR. YENDOR has been ultra consistent with 2 wins and 2 seconds from his past 4 starts with jockey Firman Yap to retain the ride.

The 4yo was a fraction unlucky here on March 3 finishing runner up to straight course specialist, Bercham when the rider lost his whip over the latter stages. CROWN STAR created a big impression winning on debut in KL on February 17 and wasn’t disgraced running 3rd in a strong 4 year old race at the same track last start. The 4yo has transferred to the Nor Azman yard and should win its share of races. ASPREY will be reaching peak fitness following three runs from a break and was only beaten 2.5 lengths (4th) in Penang last start, his best local performance to date. Former Argentinian galloper, PACHEBEL’S CANON can improve 2nd up following a reasonable effort at Penang when finishing 3.2 lengths (8th) behind in form Verbal Link. Improvement can be expected from HIGHLAND FALCON who is proven at Class 4 level while YOU ARE GENIUS can bounce back on the downgrade.

The Osaka Handicap (Race 9) is another interesting contest with talented 3yo filly, PURPLE RAIN LADY heading the weights. She should appreciate returning to Class 4 level after two failures in Cosmo B company and is a proven weight carrier having scored with 58kg previously. IKING cannot be discounted either despite his last start defeat over 1600m when he suffered a check midrace. The 9yo scored easily over 1400m two starts back with jockey R Rueven to retain the mount. Penang visitor, MOLLY BROWNE normally settles back in her races and is coming off a fast finishing 2nd to Balotelli two starts back. The mare can figure if there is a solid pace early.

BERCHAM raced below his best form last start following his 1100m victory here last month while KEEN DRAGON may be a trifecta hope as he has been contesting some harder races recently. ULTRA HERO is aiming for the hat trick but has never won in Class 4 grade at previous attempts in Singapore.
