Racing returns to PRTC this weekend with a two day meeting and 10 races set down for decision each day. Simulcast racing will be coming through from Macau and Australia on Saturday while Singapore and Hong Kong racing will be staged on Sunday.

Each of the 20 races for the weekend are named after various species of flowers  and plants which represent the national emblem for various countries around the world (e.g. The Golden Wattle Handicap is named after the national flower of Australia).

Talented performer STAR QUALITY returns to his home track and will be one of the favourites to take out the 1400m Frangipani Stakes on Sunday. The 7yo has been placed four times at Group One level in its career and is coming off a last start 2nd in the G1 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor in KL. The horse has a good record winning 5 times at the 1400m trip in Ipoh and gets in well with the 3kg claim for J Daniel.

AL VALORE is a progressive type who scored 3 times last preparation.  The 6yo should strip a lot fitter following his first up 4th to YOU ARE GENIUS in August when coming from a rearward position and the horse should perform well fresh. SISTER IN LAW has proven herself at this level and looks ready for a forward showing following two starts this preparation.

GREAT SCOTT has recaptured his best form with a recent win at Penang in Soft going. The 6yo was well supported when finishing 2nd here at the last meeting and if a wet track prevails on Sunday, he is one to watch despite the wide barrier draw.

JUSTICE WORLD will appreciate the drop back from Group company and should improve while YOU ARE GENIUS lowered the colours of subsequent winner, Black And White in this grade two starts back and is well weighted.

The other high grade race on the card is Race 9, the 1000m Edelweiss Stakes and TRUSON returns to home territory following his second group victory in the G1 Piala Emas Sultan Selangor last month. The 6yo is dropping back sharply in distance but is a versatile performer and will be in the market again come Sunday.

This race has an abundance of early pace with WOW, MIA and CELERITAS all noted fast beginners. MIA has lowered the colours of TRUSON previously over 1000m here but will be facing some stiff opposition including WOW, which is racing in career high form. With 4 wins from its past 5 starts, WOW will be working forward and has a good chance of continuing his rise in the rankings.

CELERITAS is coming off 3 wins in succession, leading all the way on each occasion. The 5yo faces his toughest test to date but does respond well when challenged and is capable of handling the class rise.

PROFESSOR X is a handy type resuming and is a first up winner previously. The 6yo has been competitive at this level and is one for the trifectas while stable mate EATON’S GOLD is a proven Class 3 type who should benefit from his first up performance here in August.
